FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SINGAPORE, 2 July 2018 - The Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI), a subsidiary of Temasek Management Services (TMS), today announces the appointment of Michael Jenkins as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Until recently, Mr Jenkins was CEO of Roffey Park in the United Kingdom. As CEO of HCLI, Mr. Jenkins will be responsible for the implementation of the company’s vision to become the preeminent centre of excellence for Leadership and Human Capital Development.
“We are very pleased that Michael Jenkins is joining HCLI as its new CEO. Michael has extensive experience and a strong track record managing Leadership Development organisations across multiple markets, and this, combined with his personal integrity, drive and leadership style make him very suitable to lead HCLI. We look forward to Michael building and expanding on the foundation laid over the past few years and taking the institute to new heights,” said Mr Sunny Verghese, Chairman of HCLI.
Prior to joining HCLI, Mr Jenkins successfully led Leadership Development organisations in three leading institutions: Roffey Park, The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) and INSEAD. He is also widely regarded as a prominent thought leader, having contributed significantly to research and intellectual capital development in Leadership over the years.
Throughout his career, Mr Jenkins has played a hands-on role in directing research and is a key contributor and thought leader in the topics of Resilience, Compassionate Leadership and “the Human Dimension of Productivity”. Mr Jenkins has been heavily involved in working with the UK government on developing leadership programmes, to promote better mental health in the workplace. He was named among HR Magazine UK’s Most Influential Thinkers in 2014 and 2016.
Over the past nine years, Mr Jenkins has successfully led Roffey Park through a series of challenges and expansion phases. Prior to that, Mr Jenkins was CEO of CCL Asia Pacific where he started up the organisation’s operations in Asia from Singapore. Over a period of four years, Mr Jenkins grew the business significantly, building from scratch a strong team of talented professionals and associates, while achieving significant business growth. Before CCL, Mr Jenkins spent five years at INSEAD, in France and subsequently in Singapore, where he was responsible for strengthening and developing the executive education business, and significantly expanding its footprint into China, Japan, India and Malaysia.
"I am very much looking forward to joining the Human Capital Leadership Institute and to helping to further the mission of the organisation to develop global leaders in and from Asia. The Institute’s diverse portfolio currently includes some world class signature platforms, ranging from the Singapore Business Leaders’ Programme targeted at top-tier regional and global leaders; the Asian Financial Leaders Programme designed for developing senior-level talent in Asia's financial sector; the Directors-in-Dialogue Series for board directors; and programmes that support functional leaders such as the new Advanced Digital Leadership Programme for Chief Digital Officers. HCLI also curates and manages Asia’s premier human capital event, the Singapore Human Capital Summit, and has contributed significantly to Asia’s knowledge base on global leadership development through its research projects, publications and knowledge-sharing events. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead and further develop this organisation.”
Mr Jenkins has broad international experience and a love for Asia. He was born in Malaysia, grew up in Uganda, studied in China and Japan, and has previously worked for nine years in Singapore. With Mr Jenkins at its helm, HCLI will strive to accelerate its mission of enabling leaders for and from Asia to succeed on a regional and global stage by building great organisations with Human Capital as a strategic advantage.
